Dreyer & Dreyer is a family owned business consisting of a father and son team which strives to provide our clients with the best possible legal representation. We have practiced law from the same convenient location in Sarasota, two blocks from the courthouse, since 1983. Our attorneys have over 50 years of experience helping people who have been seriously injured. We handle many types of personal injury cases, including motor vehicle accidents, slip-and-falls, wrongful death, and dangerous and defective products. Before opening his own law firm, Attorney J.D. Dreyer was employed by an insurance company as a claims adjuster and then spent the first 18 years of his legal career serving as defense counsel for major national and international insurance companies. For the last 22 years he has represented individuals against insurance companies. His experience on the defense side is a substantial advantage in the representation of those injured through no fault of their own. J.D. has great insight into how insurance companies evaluate and handle claims. He knows their probable defenses and the arguments they will use to try to lower the value of a case. It has provided him with superior negotiating skills, the experience to exercise sound judgment in assessing the significance of a case, and the patience to continue to ferret out all of the facts surrounding accidents so that the pieces of the puzzle are fit together to produce the best possible results.

Attorney James Dreyer, Jr., started his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney for the 12th Judicial Circuit here in Florida, gaining valuable experience in the prosecution and trial of numerous cases. Since leaving the State Attorney's Office in 1991 he has dedicated his practice to representing injured individuals against insurance companies. While maintaining his practice over the past 14 years he has also served as an adjunct law school professor for Nova Southeastern School of Law and was honored to be both elected and appointed to the Board of Directors of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, a group of approximately 4000 Lawyers dedicated to the preservation of the legal rights of accident victims throughout the state of Florida. James served for 6 years on the board of directors and is still an "eagle" member of that fine organization. As the main trial attorney for the firm, James has successfully litigated hundreds of cases and enjoyed substantial success in trial.

Our Firm also employs a licensed attorney as a paralegal and an insurance adjuster who spent over ten years working for a national insurance company, before coming to work for Dreyer & Dreyer.

In short, we work hard to provide the best possible representation to our clients in a professional manner, and we strive to deliver superior results. We make every effort to resolve cases without the necessity of litigation and trial, but only if that resolution is fair and just for our clients. Those cases that cannot be resolved are pursued vigorously through trial. Unlike law firms that advertise heavily, Dreyer & Dreyer accepts only 50 new cases each year. That means we take an active, personal role in your case. We report regularly on its status, and we involve you in the decision-making process. Above all, we listen to your concerns and let your needs guide our course. We are proud that our largest source of new clients come from prior client referrals.
